Objective
Design a flawless, 5-day, culturally focused, corporate meeting and incentive program for 900 affluent Senior Partners and spouses of a global consulting firm. Vancouver, a destination known for its scenic beauty, natural attractions and west coast vibe offered a safe and affordable option for this well-travelled group.
Challenges
- 6-hotels, 1 Convention Centre and numerous program activities meant highly coordinated group movements.
- Hospitality teams at each hotel and a registration team at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
- Logistics and resources for the movement of 900 guests, often without using motor coaches.
- Private dine-around program for 900 guests that rivals the world’s most acclaimed restaurants.
Strategy
- Showcase Vancouver’s unique urban culture and inherent connection with nature.
- Capitalize on the city’s progressive culinary scene.
- Highlight our local activities and natural attributes through dynamic programming and inventive activations.
Chef’s Table “Dinner with Friends”
- Create a customized, world class dining experience with 10 of BC’s most renowned chefs to represent the best of Canada’s west coast cuisine.
- Select 10 signature Vancouver venues for concurrent gourmet dining experiences.
- Orchestrate over 200 team members, with client branded shirts, as human directional signage throughout Vancouver’s streets.
Daily Activity Program “Like a Local”
- Provide authentic, unusual local activity opportunities such as a private group hike in our North Shore mountains and a sport clinic to learn to play hockey and curling – all quintessentially Canadian.
- Dispatch all 900 guests simultaneously, coordinate hundreds of volunteers, block off parking for a six-block radius surrounding the Vancouver Convention Centre, and employ the assistance of Vancouver Police’s traffic control division.
Award Winning Results
This celebration of West Coast culture and cuisine featured elegant dining experiences showcasing Vancouver’s most exclusive venues and BC’s most celebrated chefs. Coupled with a “local” activity program, we provided first-time travelers to Canada a true sense of place and an authentic Vancouver experience.
