A Mad Hatter's Tea Party
Alice in Wonderland and the renowned Butchart Gardens inspired a lavish Mad Hatter’s-themed finale to a three-day incentive program in Victoria that transported guests through the looking glass, and into a colourful, whimsical world where surprises waited around every corner.
To capture the magic and whimsy found Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for a light-hearted, final night event guests would long remember.
An intimate garden party featuring cocktails and fine dining at the Butchart Gardens was followed by an exclusive after-party and private concert at the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel for a group of 70 car dealers and their guests from across the southern U.S.
Each venue presented their own unique challenges, be it restrictions around tented events, an antiquated infrastructure unable support audio and lighting, or architectural challenges with the space for the after-party. In keeping with our core values, we worked with each venue to find creative solutions to stage, power and animate each space, which, ultimately required three separate venues: cocktails at the Residence Lawn, dinner in the Butchart Gardens dining room, and private concert and after-party at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.
From bucket-list scenic floatplane arrivals at the Butchart Gardens, to a private guided tour of the heritage gardens, to the exquisite culinary experience of a catered reception and dinner, the early part of the evening was an elegant affair. Guests had an inkling something curious was afoot when costumed Tweedle Dee and Dum characters hijacked an otherwise peaceful return transfer to the hotel, where the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and Alice herself waited to kick off a surprise after-party. The highlight: a private concert by REO Speedwagon pushed the revelry into high gear.
When guests first embarked on their flightseeing adventure they had no idea they’d end the night through the looking glass, dancing with the Mad Hatter and Alice, posing with the Queen of Hearts for photo ops, or reliving the sounds of their youth at a private concert by REO Speedwagon — and yet, because our client trusted us to creatively tie each event element together seamlessly, their Victoria incentive will be one for their corporate history books.
A magical evening though the looking glass
